Ekumenizmas gimsta kasdienybėje. Sausio 15-ąją Romoje esanti popiežiškoji kolegija RUSSICUM šventė Kalėdas bei minėjo Naujuosius metus pagal senąjį Julijaus kalendorių. Šis renginys buvo tarsi įvadas į ekumeninę savaitę, kurią Bažnyčia mini sausio 18–25 dienomis. Kolegiją „Russicum" 1929 metais popiežius Pijus XI įsteigė stačiatikių studentams, pasitraukusiems iš bolševikinės Rusijos. Šiandien jėzuitų prižiūrimoje kolegijoje gyvena stačiatikių, Romos katalikų, graikų katalikų studentai, atvykę studijuoti į Romą. Sausio viduryje vykusios šventės programa pristatė įvairias kultūrines tradicijas - koncerto metu kolegijos studentai ir svečiai iš kitų Romos kolegijų atliko įvairius muzikinius kūrinius savo gimtosiomis kalbomis. Renginyje dalyvavo įvairių krikščioniškų bažnyčių atstovai, popiežiškųjų universitetų rektoriai, kolegijos rėmėjai ir bičiuliai. Apie šventę ir popiežiškosios kolegijos gyvenimą pasakoja kun. Oddly enough, I can 'envision' waking up and discovering a Church which nurtures vocations by holding to the Faith rather than deviating from it to suit the needs of prelates who should never have been ordained in the first place.
Mature married men have worked out as well in the parishes founded by Anglicans who converted to Catholicism and, of course, historically in the Eastern Churches, so I don't see what people are worrying about. As long as they don't offer ordination to married men under the age of, say, 45 or 50, I think they'd make an excellent and much needed source of new priests.
