The controversy stemmed from a post on X.com in which Aizpún, parish priest of San Juan Evangelista in Huarte and a canon of Pamplona Cathedral, wrote: "May Our Lady of Africa, patron saint of Ceuta, inspire the reconquest of Morocco and its conversion to Christianity. His body was found with multiple machete wounds to his head along a roadside in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, on July 29.
