The Russian Orthodox Church has revoked its June decision assigning its former foreign affairs chief to two Russian Orthodox parishes in southern Brazil. Instead, Patriarch Kirill has assigned Hilarion, 60, to the Exaltation of the Cross Monastery near Moscow. The latest reassignment comes after a series of controversies involving the once-powerful church diplomat. Nigerian police are investigating the killing of Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Lokoja. His body was found with multiple machete wounds to his head along a roadside in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, on July 29.
