A total solar eclipse, the first that mainland Europe has seen in nearly 30 years, is happening on Wednesday. The moon will swallow the sun whole, casting a shadow hundreds of thousands of miles long onto Earth and plunging part of our world into ephemeral darkness.
The main event will begin at about 12:08 p.m. Eastern time in the northernmost part of Russia, and then loop around to pass over Greenland, Iceland and the Atlantic Ocean. It will cut across northern Spain and a tiny corner of Portugal before …Mai

This mini course will be taught by Jonathan Couey, PhD, a former academic neurobiologist and former research faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Mr. Couey has published in Science, Nature Neuroscience, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Neuron. From 2022-2023, he served as a scientific advisor to Children's Health Defense and Skyhorse Publishing author and current HHS Secretary Robert F Kennedy, Jr. This relationship culminated in the publishing of The Wuhan Cover Up (DO NOT BUY THE BOOK NEW. His experiences during the pandemic with what he terms 'health freedumb' is a major impetus for this course.

Where is the outspoken jouranlist who has been missing in Israel?

Israel is silent as Moscow seeks answers about a dual citizen of Russia and Israel.
Missing since landing at Ben Gurion Airport last wee.
Israeli authorities have remained silent on the fate of Russian-Israeli historian Artyom Kirpichenok, days after his reported detention and despite Moscow seeking answers about his whereabouts.
Kirpichenok, 51, is a dual Russian-Israeli citizen, journalist, and Middle East expert known for his writings on Zionism and criticism of Israel’s policies toward Iran and Palestine. He reportedly disappeared on August 2 shortly after landing at Ben Gurion Airport on a flight from Yerevan.
Kirpichenok reportedly sent his family a brief message saying “arrived” at 10:41 am, but his phone and social media activity ceased shortly afterward. Reports citing Israeli police say he passed through passport control at Ben Gurion before disappearing. Colleagues said he had traveled to Israel for an academic conference and had a return ticket for August 8.

Popes certainly have more important things to do than pay for their hotel room out of their own wallet, as Francis did at the beginning of his pontificate. Do they even have enough time for that?

The Decline of the Petrine Ministry?

Editor’s note: The following is a guest commentary from Bishop Marian Eleganti, the former auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Chur and former Abbot of St. Otmarsberg Abbey. It is published on Per Mariam at the direct request of Bp. Eleganti. VATICAN CITY (PerMariam) — On July 31, 2026, Pope Leo XIV met with American rock musician, poet, and artist Patti Smith — the so-called “Godmother of Punk” — in a 40-minute private audience at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican. Both are from Chicago. The meeting was attended by Father Antonio Spadaro. There are several official photos and a video of the encounter. This harmless encounter — I imagine that it mainly involved an exchange of pleasantries, with hardly anything of great significance for the Church — raises questions for me. Credit: Vatican Media. For a long time now, I’ve been personally troubled by the fact that, since John Paul II, popes have increasingly been speaking in a purely informal manner on all sorts of occasions (e.g., on an …

Abelardo de la Espriella was sworn in as president of Colombia on August 7 in a ceremony reflecting his Catholic faith. Succeeding left-wing President Gustavo Petro, he took the oath at Santiago de Cali University, accompanied by his wife, their four children, and members of his government team. An image of Our Lady of Fatima stood prominently on the stage. De la Espriella concluded by asking God to bless his children and declaring: “Everything for the homeland… Stand firm for the homeland! Long live Christ the King!”

Current affairs and culture in light of the Fatima message. By Providential Design : Melbourne’s Indispensable Latin Mass Revival 8–12 minutes This article describes the early history of the Latin Mass revival during the 1970’s around Melbourne, Victoria including the genesis of two SSPX parishes. By Marc J de Castella In my recent article, “A Life Changing Blessing,” I recounted some details concerning the Catholic settlement at “St Benedict’s” in the Upper Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia. I described the polemics arising from the post-conciliar “reforms,” most notably, the polarising impact of the radical liturgical changes imposed upon the Melbourne Archdiocese in the early to mid 1970’s. Eager to avoid the unpleasant atmosphere at Rev. Heffey’s community chapel, which was fraught with tension, some families, (including mine), began attending the Novus Ordo at St Joseph’s Catholic Parish in the nearby town of Yarra Junction. Although it was 1974, Communion in the hand had not yet …

Cardinal Zuppi at Agnostic’s Secular Funeral: “The Lord Could Not Stand Dogmas”

Cardinal Matteo Zuppi of Bologna and president of the Italian Bishops’ Conference attended the private funeral of Italian singer-songwriter Francesco Guccini in Pavana on Saturday.
He delivered an address, published on Avvenire.it (August 8), in which he practically canonized the self-described agnostic.
Guccini, 86, had described himself as an “agnostic possibilist.” Zuppi, who was his friend, recalled that the singer had once told him he wanted the cardinal present at his funeral.
Addressing Guccini directly, Cardinal Zuppi imagined what the deceased might now be seeing: “We do not know precisely … what you see: the fullness of that light which, in reality, you had already sensed from here and which you were able to glimpse in the poignant and infinite beauty of life.”
Cardinal Zuppi portrayed Guccini’s agnostic doubt positively, as an honest search for truth.
“Doubt was your way of standing before things without cheating, with integrity,” he said. “You never stopped asking and listening.” …Mai

Yet Vatican II is treated as dogma 😉

On August 11, 1937, Soviet Russia began the mass extermination of Poles living in the USSR. - it was the so-called "Polish Operation of the NKVD". 111 thousand people were murdered, and about 140 thousand Poles were "tried" and sent to prisons and labor camps.

The fruit of modernism. The enemies of the Church must be laughing hysterically at such buffoonery.

Ave Crux

Some in the Catholic Church seem to like clown shows in place of dignified liturgies. Teaching these young, impressionable souls not to take their Catholic Faith or the Mass seriously. Heartbreaking scandal.

Oslo Bishop on Diocesan Synod: "I Exclude Anything against Faith and Morals"

Bishop Fredrik Hansen of Oslo plans the first diocesan synod in Oslo before the 2030 jubilee of St. Olaf. “A diocesan synod is not a democratic assembly,” Bishop Hansen wrote on August 6 on Katolsk.no, the website of the Catholic Church in Norway.
“As bishop, I am also obliged to exclude from the synod anything that contradicts or calls into question the doctrine of the Church,” he added. “It is not for us to decide on matters of faith and morals.”
The synod will arrive at plans and documents that are “presented to me as bishop and brought to a decision by me.”
Bishop Hansen indicated that participation in the assemblies would probably resemble “a considerably expanded pastoral council.”
He compared his diocesan synod with the synods held by St Archbishop Charles Borromeo of Milan “in accordance with the provisions of the Council of Trent.”
However, his working method “will resemble that of the Second Vatican Council,” he threatened.
Bishop Hansen recently extended permission for the …Mai

A clever but meaningless pronouncement. Pope Leo XIV would feel quite comfortable in offering similar assurances.
The problem with Conciliarism is that the teachings of the Second Vatican Council have allowed the Modernist leaders to determine what "contradicts or calls into question the doctrine of the Church." They call it a "living" Magisterium.
